A new season of Seattle Seahawks football is upon us. I know we’re in the middle of game week and there’s great anticipation in the air, but I also want to take the time to inform and refresh everyone on who’s on the Field Gulls staff. You’ll also get brief background info, some clarity on our roles within the site, as well as links to their author profiles.
Meet your Field Gulls team for the 2025 season!
The General Manager
Mookie Alexander. I’ve been a formal part of the Field Gulls team since 2017, the lead manager
since 2020, and I’ve been a full-time SB Nation employee since 2022. As the GM I’m in charge of everything, including the hires on this staff, the layout, writing assignments, the whole shebang. You may also know me as the Enemy Reaction guy, and I hope I get to do a lot of Enemy Reactions this year.
The Assistant GM
John Gilbert. A member of the staff since 2016, John’s official job title is Deputy Editor, meaning he’s second in command. Those tasks include writing his own articles, editing and scheduling articles written by other staff members, and other behind the scenes stuff that is too dull to get into. Gilbert is our resident salary cap and NFL finances expert and is also famous for his headline writing, which has never upset anyone in the comments section ever.
The Roster
The veterans
Tyler Alsin. Tyler won a FanPost contest writing about Seahawks legend Doug Baldwin, and six years later he’s one of our most experienced Field Gulls writers. Whether it’s opinion pieces or news write-ups, there’s something about Tyler that makes him the site engagement king. Yes, even over John Gilbert. Tyler is somehow one of the only people on this staff who actually lives in the state of Washington, much less in the Seattle area.
Terrance Robinson. This is year five of Terrance handling everyone’s favorite hangout spot while living it up in Texas. Terrance has Pre-Snap Reads links ready (along with music recommendations) just about every morning, unless he’s unavailable and I sub in for him. After every Seahawks game, Pre-Snap Reads becomes Post-Snap Reads.
Ted Zahn. Ted is in his third season with the Field Gulls staff, bringing Seahawks history articles and analysis every week. His biggest assignment was covering the NFL Draft for Field Gulls as credentialed media in his home state of Wisconsin back in April.
The Sophomores
Alexandre Castro. Joining us all the way from Brazil, Alexandre is our lead Seahawks and NFL Draft prospect analyst. He breaks down the All-22 so you don’t have to, but he also contributes elsewhere in terms of scouting potential trade targets and free agent signings.
John Tapia. Wait, how many people named John are on this staff?! Tapia is from New Mexico and primarily focuses on Seahawks and other NFL news. He’s also one of many who handle the Seahawks Reacts survey results articles, along with our FanDuel sponsored content like the weekly opening odds column.
Patrick Hood. We’ve got all four time zones in the continental part of the United States covered. Patrick is out on the East Coast and much like Tapia, he’s got Seahawks news, league-wide news, and Seahawks Reacts + FanDuel content covered brilliantly. You’ll also see Patrick populating The Feed with content most days of the week, so check out The Feed and participate!
The Rookies
Bryce Coutts Oh, Canada! Bryce hails from the Great White North and joined the Field Gulls staff back in the spring. He’s a current football coach who’s just started his own podcast after previously working with Ryan MacMillan on the HawksZone Rundown. If you haven’t subscribed to The Hawks Eye, do it now!
Michael Thompson. Michael might be in Idaho but he’s the biggest Oklahoma Sooners fan on our staff. He comes over from 12th Man Rising and he lives, eats, and breathes college football as much as he does the Seahawks. Not only will he be a regular contributing writer on Field Gulls, he’ll be a frequent guest recapping Seahawks gamedays with Bryce on The Hawks Eye.
Jer’rel Coleman. Our newest hire is so new that I haven’t set up his author profile yet. Jer’rel just made his debut article last week during roster cutdown day, and you’ll see more of his writing moving forward as part of our pre-game and post-game coverage.
The veterans on the practice squad
John Fraley. There’s another John?! Yes, this John has been at Field Gulls for 12 years, so he has seniority over all of us. He’s been a copy editor, moderator, staff writer, and remains elite at dad jokes and eye-rolling puns. Fraley has settled into an emeritus role of sorts as an in-season op-ed writer.
Frank T. Raines. Much like Fraley, Frank isn’t a part of the normal Field Gulls writing rotation anymore, but stays on staff to write whenever he’s up for it. He’s our resident optimist (because someone has to counterbalance John Gilbert) and lead hater of all things related to the Los Angeles Rams. FTR!
The Referee
Alaric10000. While AI bots are all the rage these days, I can confirm that Alaric10000 is a real person with a real banhammer that he’d prefer not to use unless it’s really warranted. I should note we have an SB Nation moderation team that oversees all community sites, so not every hidden comment or warning or suspension is coming from Alaric. If you follow the rules you’ll have a great time here.

So that’s your Field Gulls roster update for 2025! If you love Field Gulls, spread the good word and tell your fellow 12s that we should be one of their go-to places for Seahawks coverage. On Thursday, we’ll have a rundown of what type of content (recurring and new) and game coverage you can expect from us throughout the season.
As always…
SEA!!!
