Happy Wednesday, Athletics Nation!
The A’s have been looking like a playoff-caliber team since around the All-Star break.
Unfortunately, they had a horrific 1-20 run earlier in the season that has left the postseason out of reach as the summer
winds down: with 28 games to play, the A’s remain 11 games behind the AL West leading Astros and 9½ games out from the third Wild Card berth.
But the A’s could conceivably be closing in on .500 as September winds down, and next year could see the A’s next window of contention reopen. With the announcement of the team’s 2026 schedule yesterday, it’s that much easier to envision the green and gold playing into October.
The A’s are hoping to relocate to Las Vegas for the 2028 season. A new ballpark is under construction where the Tropicana once stood on the Vegas Strip, and it appears that the organization is looking to generate excitement among Sin City residents and visitors with a six-game homestand in June at Las Vegas Ballpark, where the A’s Triple-A affiliate Aviators currently play. The Vegas homestand will include three-game series against the Brewers and Rockies.
The A’s will open the 2026 season on the road, with a trip to the Great White North to take on the Blue Jays followed by a southward journey to play three against the Braves in Atlanta. The home opener at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento will take place on April 3 against the visiting Astros, and the regular season finale will also take place at home against Houston on September 27.
More details remain to be announced, including game times and ticket prices.
