Barcelona midfielder Gavi has sent out a message to fans after being forced off in the first half of Sunday’s 5-0 win over Elche.
Gavi had to be replaced in the opening 45 minutes of the match after sustaining a problem which meant he couldn’t continue.
Manager Hansi Flick confirmed after the victory that Gavi had sustained a knee injury, and he was spotted limping away from the stadium.
Gavi has now sent out a message to thank fans for their support and also to apologize.
“Thanks to those who are always
by my side, supporting me and sticking with me through thick and thin!!” he posted on Instagram.
“I don’t know any other way to experience football—sorry for putting you through so much suffering.”
Barcelona are yet to offer an update on Gavi’s fitness after he underwent tests on Monday but early indications are that the injury is not serious and the midfielder is not set for another long lay-off.
