The Lakers will have another player besides Luka Dončić representing them at the All-Star game.
LeBron James wasn’t named an All-Star starter, but he made the team as a reserve. This extends LeBron’s consecutive streak of All-Star appearances to 22, which is an NBA record.
LeBron not getting voted in by the fans was certainly not normal, but also not a shock. While injuries
limited him in the first half of the season, LeBron certainly had numbers that warranted an All-Star selection once he did return.
This season, he is averaging 21.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. James missed the first 14 games of the season due to a sciatica issue, but has remained relatively healthy, available and productive after his debut.
With the All-Star game happening in Los Angeles at the Intuit Dome, it could be the last time he joins the festivities as a Laker. He is in the final year of his contract, and given that he is 41, his future with the Lakers and in the NBA is very much up in the air.
This All-Star game will feature a new format with a USA vs. the World concept.
There will be two U.S. teams and one international team competing in a round-robin tournament featuring four 12-minute games. Each team will have at least eight players.
Luka, as a Slovenian, will play for the World team, while LeBron will be a member of one of the USA teams.
