ABOUT THE GAME
- TCU hosts Colorado for their Big 12 conference home opener this week after falling on the road at now-ranked Arizona State. The Horned Frogs entered last week’s game ranked No. 24 and are still receiving votes in both polls.
- The game has been designated TCU’s annual Black Out game and Las Ranas game where TCU honors Hispanic Heritage Month.
- Colorado head coach Deion Sanders began his tenure at CU with a road game in Fort Worth in 2023 when the Buffs upset No. 17 TCU in the season opener.
- TCU is aiming to avoid their first 0-2 start in Big 12 play since 2013. Similarly, CU (0-2) is looking for their first conference victory and to avoid an 0-3 start in conference play for the first time since 2017.
- Texas has been a popular recruiting territory for the Buffs as their roster features 20 players from the state.
- TCU is averaging 4.8 20+ yard passing plays per game, the fifth best mark in the country so far this season.
- Jamel Johnson is one of only six Power 4 defensive backs with an 80+ grade in both tackling and coverage by PFF.
COLORADO NOTES
- Back To Where It Began: The Buffs head back to Fort Worth where the Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders Era got underway for the Buffs iwth a dramatic 45-42 win over the defending national runners up to open the 2023 season. Shedeur Sanders threw for a CU record 510 yards and Travis Hunter had 11 catches for 119 yards and an interception against the Horned Frogs.
- Dre’Lon Miller: CU’s swiss army knife on offense, he has lined up at slot receiver, wide receiver, inline, in the backfield and as a wildcat quarterback so far this season.
- Tawfiq Byard: The South Florida transfer leads all Big 12 defensive backs in tackles and is third in the league overall. He leads the team with 37 tackles, 32 of which have come in the last three games. Older brother Kevin plays in the NFL for the Chicago Bears.
- O-Line: The offensive line has been much improved to start the 2025 season. In 295 offensive snaps through five games, the offensive line has not allowed a sack, per PFF. The line has given up three QB hits, 22 QB hurries and committed four penalties as a group.
- Salter: He is one of the nation’s leaders in touchdowns since the start of the 2023 season with 75, just one behind Tennessee’s Joey Aguilar and Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia. He is the only one in that time frame with more than 50 passing touchdowns and more than 20 rushing touchdowns (52 & 23).
