After an impressive defensive second half performance last week, the Cowboys are slated to get two starters back on that side of the ball. Both Demarvion Overshown and Cobie Durant will suit up. The Cowboys must take advantage of a weak offensive line and backup Eagles QB if they want to correct this season.
If the Cowboys can win, they will have two more easy games on the horizon and could make a late-season push. However, if the Cowboys can’t win against a depleted Eagles team, the 2.5 game advantage
the Giants hold in the division will feel insurmountable.
3 things to love about Cowboys-Eagles tilt include playing a pocket QB – Ben Grimaldi, Cowboys Wire
On paper, this is a game the Cowboys should win, as noted by the spread. However, as fans have learned this season, the difference between should and will is very different.
New offensive line
It wasn’t that long ago when the Eagles had what was considered the gold standard in the NFL for the offensive line. A group that was filled with top-tier talent has been reduced to a OL that’s playing with just two of their original starters from the beginning of the season.
Gut Feeling: Staff predictions for Cowboys-Eagles – Staff, DallasCowboys.com
This game feels like a pivotal one early in the season. If Dallas can climb back to 3-4, in a week division, there is hope. If they lose, the Cowboys can effectively pack it up.
The Eagles’ defense has playmakers at all three levels, and have struggled but are still a solid overall unit. I think we see another close game between these two teams, but I ultimately think the home team comes out on top late. Eagles, 21-20.

Cardinals Linked to Josh Sweat Trade With Cowboys – Donnie Druin, Sports Illustrated
It is unclear if the Cowboys are currently a buying or selling team. After acquiring Joey Porter Jr, they could try to keep adding defensive talent like Josh Sweat, but would it be worth it if the season is already on a downward spiral.
But now the Cardinals are 2-4, and unless they turn it around, they could be willing to listen to meaningful offers,” he wrote.
“One team that could explore the possibility of a Sweat trade is the Cowboys, who are trying to salvage their season Monday night in Philadelphia.”
If the Cowboys can’t get back on track in next 3 games, they probably never will- Levi Dombro, The Landry Hat
The last few weeks have been brutal for the Cowboys playoff hopes. However, Dallas could very easily climb back into the picture with a win game streak against a fairly easy schedule. The operative word is could.
Here are Dallas’ next three foes:
Week 7 – @ Philadelphia Eagles (2-4) ~ MNF
Week 8 – vs. Arizona Cardinals (2-4)
Week 9 – @ Indianapolis Colts (2-4)Not exactly murderer’s row.
Cowboys defense playing like the 2nd half defense from last week is key- Sean Martin, Blogging The Boys
Even in a loss, there were some bright spots from last Sunday night. However, Dallas needs a complete half from both sides of the ball to inspire confidence.
A big part of the reason the Cowboys defense gave up 17 points in the first half of their last game was not getting the Packers offense off the field on third and long. A big part of holding them to six points in the second half was getting more pressure on Jordan Love and finishing the possessions with third-down stops.
