The Harry Kane Ballon d’Or hype train is packed and it’s not showing signs of slowing down any time soon. The latest name to voice his support for the 33-year-old England star is USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino, who coached Kane at Tottenham Hotspur.
“My wish, I hope yes. I think he deserves it as the reward for his career and for all what he has done in football,” Pochettino said on Sky Sports (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “I don’t know if he is going to be punished for the World Cup or the Champions
League because he played in both semifinals. Maybe he will be punished, I don’t know, but, for me, it’s Harry Kane’s time. I think he deserves it. He deserves it in his career like Modrić, Cannavaro or Benzema. I think if I pick one, then it’s Harry Kane.”
With Kane letting his football do the talking instead of spouting unsupported claims in the media on who should win the Ballon d’Or and with high-profile individuals supporting his cause, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t win it.
