Malik Nabers is clearly all the way back after last season’s torn ACL. The New York Giants star wide receiver has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Month after four straight 100-yard receiving games.
Nabers’ streak is tied for the longest active streak in the NFL. It matches the second-longest streak in Giants history. Odell Beckham Jr. eclipsed 100 yards in four consecutive games in 2014, and then six straight outings in 2015. Nabers is the only player in the NFL this season with 500+ receiving
yards and 35+ receptions in a four-game span.
In four October games, Nabers had 36 receptions and 509 receiving yards, with two touchdowns. He also had eight receptions of at least 25 yards.
Nabers has had 51 targets over his last four games, and his average of 10.0 targets per game is ninth in the league.
Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy jokingly said on Thursday that Nabers’ high volume of targets “goes to the beginning of the season when he threatened me.”
Nagy, again jokingly, added that the Giants have a “fiduciary responsibility to get Malik a bunch of catches.”
It’s been working. Even though opposing defenses know that is where the ball is going.
