The boxing world was flipped upside down earlier this week following the news that current WBA Lightweight champion, Tank Davis, would face off against Jake Paul in an exhibition bout on Nov. 14, 2025 in Atlanta, Ga., streaming exclusively on Netflix.
Fans should be rejoicing because Paul is finally fighting a “real boxer,” though he currently outweighs him by more than 60 pounds and has him covered by six inches in height. Nevertheless, the “fight” is actually going to happen, for better or worse,
and the official poster has been released.
It’s a fight that came out of nowhere since Davis was supposed to rematch Lamont Roach Jr. after their epic battler earlier this year that saw Tank win a unanimous decision in what was a tightly-contested bout. But, according to Eddie Hearn, he isn’t too surprised he chose a big-money bout against Paul over Roach Jr., revealing he won’t be shocked if Davis calls it a career after he gets his bag after Nov. 14.

“I mean, maybe the kid’s half checked out of the game anyway,” Hearn said. “So, I think as long as we establish it’s not boxing and it’s just this entertainment thing, then I get it. When fighters get to a certain point and a certain level it becomes all about the money. And Tank obviously right now, I don’t think he’s interested in legacy and belts, I think he wants dough, he wants money, and as much of it as possible and then if it’s the end, it’s the end. So Lamont Roach isn’t really at that stage, he’s actually chasing greatness, but he’s not capable of making a $20-30M payday yet.
“So I think he would think he would win that rematch against Gervonta Davis, and probably because of the appetite of Davis at the moment I think Roach might beat him,” he added. “And I think that also comes down to Gervonta’s decision to take this (Paul) fight.”
Time will tell …
