Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has rarely been when it comes voicing his concerns and stresses over the Wild West that’s been the NCAA Transfer Portal in recent years. And whereas previous seasons at Texas under Sarkisian’s tenure have been forced to deal with the chaos that’s been the transfer portal, a new NCAA Football Oversight Committee rule limits transfer players to a single window has earned the coach’s backing.
“I think for the betterment of the sport, that’s the right window
for teams, and for the players to have a chance to go in and then decide where they want to go so they can roll into their next institution for spring and be there for spring ball, and then into summer,” Sarkisian said. “It’s fair for the school, so they can build their rosters predicated on who leaves and what they’re trying to do.”
It helps calm waters for the College Football Playoff qualifiers, too, such as the Longhorns the past two seasons.
