Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is in the middle of a rough stretch of games with his squad and it will not get easier when the team travels to face VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.
For Kompany, he wants
to try and do everything possible to keep the team winning.
“I’ll be happy if we get four wins. There’s a lot of focus on that. We wanted to still be in all three competitions going into the new year, which we’ve done. Now we want to win our remaining games. We’ve had some great moments in 2025. We want to keep that going and do even better in 2026,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
To get a win, Kompany might have to do without midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović, who picked up a minor ailment against Union Berlin the DFB-Pokal earlier this week.
“Aleks Pavlović had to go off [against Union Berlin]. The initial news is good. He should be able to train again in the next few days. It’s nothing serious, but we’ll have to wait and see if he’s fit for tomorrow,” said Kompany.
Having a full roster would be nice against a dangerous Stuttgart side, especially with the way Deniz Undav is playing. Undav has nine goals and three assist in 15 games across all competitions so far this season.
“I know about Undav from Belgium. He’s a striker who can always score. He’s so clever and also a threat on the counter. They’re not an easy opponent. We need to deal with things as a collective. Stuttgart away is always difficult. We’re prepared to put in a lot of effort. We’ve always managed to win there, but it was always difficult against them of late. If we perform at our top level, we can win, but we know what to expect,” said Kompany.
Finally, Kompany commented on the “fighting spirit” shown by his team in the win over Union Berlin.
“I always want to feel that we’re not too good for such matches. These are nice wins. We had creativity in the first half against Union. We needed other things in the second. It’s not always about just pretty football. The guys did that against Union,” Kompany stated.
