The 2026 NFL draft is right around the corner. At least, it’s just over two weeks, which might feel like an eternity for Cleveland Browns fans who are hoping for another cornerstone draft class to build the future upon. A lot could happen in the last two weeks, including a new report on a back concern for OT Francis Mauigoa, and a very intriguing new prospect visit to Berea.
The NFL draft has become its own media entity. Where Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN used to be the lone name in the game, the industry
is now full of great analysts and opportunities to learn about prospects.
Among those names is Dane Brugler, author of “The Beast,” a part of The Athletic’s coverage of the NFL draft. A Warren, Ohio native, Brugler has been covering the draft for a long time and is one of the few analysts who gets recognized by everyone in the NFL media. The amount of work he puts into “The Beast” is the reason why.
With wide receiver being an important position for the Browns this year, it was interesting to see that Brugler only has Carnell Tate and Makai Lemon with pure first-round grades. After that, four others are labeled with “1st-2nd” grades:
- Jordyn Tyson
- KC Concepcion
- Omar Cooper Jr.
- Denzel Boston
Six others are listed with 2nd or 2nd-3rd round grades at the receiver position.
For reference, Brugler also only has two offensive tackles with pure 1st-round grades and five with 1st-2nd grades.
What do you think about Brugler’s grades for the top receivers in this draft?
