Thursday Night Football is back, Rumblers! While there’s no Buffalo Bills game until Sunday, there is a hard-nosed AFC North divisional matchup to enjoy this evening. We’ve finally hit October on the world’s most popular calendar, and, with that, the hitting gets all the more intense the deeper into fall we go.
Tonight, the Cleveland Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a battle of two 2-1 teams. The entire AFC North is log-jammed at 2-1, but the Steelers have a tenuous hold on first place, while
the Browns are currently in the third slot. This is an important early season game, and one plenty that should hold your interest most of the evening.
Are we in for a low-scoring slugfest, or will quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson light it up in primetime? It’s worth wondering who actually enjoys watching either guy throw the football these day, but here we are.
In terms of rooting interests, there’s not a lot of drama regarding Bills story lines. It’s a “choose your own adventure” evening. If history holds, then Pittsburgh is the more “dangerous” team as a playoff hopeful. However, it really doesn’t matter since Buffalo doesn’t play either team in the regular season.
It’s really difficult finding a good reason to cheer on Rodgers or Watson. Impossible? That’s for you to decide. If you care about such things, Rodgers has said he’s retiring at the end of the 2026 NFL season, so tonight would be the final ‘TNF’ game for him.
Remember, the Browns traded away Myles Garrett, and just today the Steelers traded away Joey Porter Jr. In terms of drawing power, these teams look a bit different than they did last December. There’s an interesting fact for uniform connoisseurs: Pittsburgh and Cleveland have a combined one logo between the right and left “sides” of their helmets. Plus, the Browns have this little elf guy they called Brownie, but most people forget about him, and he’s never been used by the team as their helmet logo. Maybe the NFL needs elf logos?
With that, here’s your open thread for Week 4 of Thursday Night Football on Prime! As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
