Spain deservedly won World Cup 2026 and their victory in the USA, Mexico and Canada will likely have an impact later this year when the winner of the Ballon d’Or is announced.
Before the tournament, England star Harry Kane, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and PSG’s Ousmane Dembele were among the top favorites to be crowned the best player on the planet.
However, events at the World Cup have seen Lionel Messi and Rodri both stake a claim to pick up the prestigious Golden Ball in October when the winner will
be announced.
Messi led Argentina to another final at the grand old age of 39, Kylian Mbappe claimed the Golden Boot, and Rodri walked off with the World Cup and was named the tournament’s best player.
