No trades for the Buffalo Bills… yet.
But that could change soon.
And, sure, Bills fan probably want more than the “check-in” at this stage, but according to the Albert Breer, in his Trade Deadline Notes piece for Sports Illustrated, “the Bills are looking for another piece or two on defense.”
And that’s really all Breer mentioned on the Bills.
No expanding on that sentence or follow-up later in the piece.
It was part of his “Other Buyers” subheading, and here’s that whole section:
“As for the buyers,
the Chiefs and Steelers have asked around on receivers. The Giants and Jaguars are sniffing around on defensive tackles—Jacksonville’s looking for pieces for its defensive front in general. The Vikings have asked around on interior offensive and defensive linemen, and running backs. The Bills are looking for another piece or two on defense. And the Browns, suddenly thrust into the “buyer” category, are checking out options for another designated pass-rusher and a blocking tight end.”
While I’m essentially always down for a receiver add, that seems highly unlikely at this point for Buffalo. After all, the Bills are first — or near the top — in many offensive metrics entering Week 8. The aerial attack, even with DJ Moore only on the field for 33.9% of the offensive snaps through six games, has largely been fine.
As we all know, the defense has struggled and now C.J. Gardner-Johnson has stacked a one-game suspension on top of inconsistent tackling. Defensive back or linebacker feel like positions Buffalo could be targeting.
Also, in the past two games, Buffalo’s pass rush, that was sensational in the first month of the season, did not make much of an impact. Defensive line and outside linebacker are possibilities too.
The NFL trade deadline is November 10, and we now have our first legitimate report about the Bills being interested in buying.
