The Wisconsin Badgers have dismissed forward Elijah Gray from the team, the school announced in a statement on Tuesday.
“Elijah Gray has been dismissed from the University of Wisconsin-Madison men’s basketball
team related to events preceding his enrollment at UW-Madison.
“Gray arrived in Madison as a fourth-year senior transfer this summer and had yet to play a game for Wisconsin. Privacy laws limit the university’s ability to share more at this time.”
Gray, a fourth-year senior, had transferred in from the Temple Owls this offseason, joining the team in the summer. He was expected to serve as frontcourt depth for the Badgers, providing experience for a group that lost six seniors.“
He had been limited in workouts and did not play in the team’s Red-White scrimmage due to an illness. He was also away from the team for their exhibition game against the Oklahoma Sooners last Friday.
With Gray no longer on the team, the Badgers will likely rely on freshmen big men Aleksas Bieliauskas and Will Garlock as their primary depth pieces off the bench. Both were trending towards rotational minutes and played 13 and 8 minutes, respectively, against Oklahoma.
