Cinderella is alive and thriving in the the NWA Crockett Cup. The #16 seed advanced to the final.
The Titans of Calamity were a late addition to the tournament, and they earned their way in for the #16 seed. Make no mistake. Talos and Ren Ayabe should have been ranked much higher. They are the world tag team champions in All Japan Pro Wrestling, not to mention they tower over the competition as giants.
The Titans of Calamity pulled the upset in the opening round by defeating #1 seed The Immortals (JR
Kratos & Odinson), who are reigning NWA world tag team champions and also won the Crockett Cup last year. The Titans continued momentum to beat Thom Latimer & El Dragon Nihan in the quarterfinals.
The semifinal matchup was against The Wrestling Machines (Mike Mondo & Spencer Slade managed by Aron Stevens). The Titans were too powerful. Down the stretch, Talos hit a sidewalk slam on Mondo. Slade came in for the save, but Talos ran through the double-team clothesline to hammer a double clothesline of his own. Ayabe booted Slade out of the ring, and the Titans finished Mondo with a double chokeslam.
The other semifinal had an upset as well. #6 seed Country Gentleman cheated to defeat #2 seed Good Brothers. Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows were in control for the Magic Killer. Joe Cazana distracted Anderson on the apron, AJ Cazana walloped Gallows with a heavy book, and KC Cazana grabbed the tights on a roll-up to pin Gallows.
The Crockett Cup final is set with #16 Titans of Calamity versus #6 Country Gentlemen. That match airs next week on NWA Powerrr.
