Week 8 was kind to the Las Vegas Raiders, as the Raiders managed to get a big win and end a four-game losing streak. But let’s see how the weekend fared for a few old friends: Josh Jacobs, K’Lavon Chaisson and Gardner Minshew.
Josh Jacobs
Score: 27-19 Packers win
Stats: 21 carries, 39 yards, 1 TD, 6 catches, 13 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD
Outside of the two touchdowns, Jacobs didn’t perform well on Thursday night. Instead, the talk surrounding the running back after the game was about one of his celebrations.
Jacobs was recently removed from the commissioner’s exempt list after getting arrested for domestic violence, for which he reached a plea deal to avoid jail time. After scoring on Thursday, Jacobs celebrated by putting his hands behind his back and having a teammate seemingly release him from handcuffs, sparking controversy. Jacobs said it was an ode to the gospel song, “Break Every Chain” (h/t ESPN’s Rob Demovsky). Additionally, three more women have accused him of physical abuse, which came to light after the game.
K’Lavon Chaisson
Score: 27-10 Commanders win
Stats: 4 tackles, 1 sack, 3 QB hits
Chaisson hasn’t been having a great season with just 2.5 sacks heading into Sunday. However, he lived in the Philadelphia Eagles’ backfield in Week 8. The pass-rusher managed to get one sack and had several pressures throughout the night to cap off the Commanders’ big win. However, he did get flagged for a couple of roughing the passer penalties that almost ruined the performance.
Gardner Minshew
Score: 33-30 Cardinals win in OT
Stats: 17/23, 188 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs
Minshew hadn’t played a snap during the regular season until Cardinals’ head coach Mike LaFleur decided to bench starting quarterback Jacob Brissett (10/19, 119 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT). That decision was the difference in the game, as Arizona scored 30 of its 33 points in the second half and overtime after Minshew entered the contest. The former Raiders’ starting quarterback led scoring drives on five of his six possessions to pull off a 14-point second-half comeback.
