Defending Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain has been one of Europe’s most imposing teams over the past two seasons. That doesn’t mean Bayern Munich is backing down from the challenge.
Down 5-4 on aggregate, the Bavarians will welcome PSG to Munich this week for the pivotal second leg of their Champions League semifinals tie. It will be one of the biggest tests of Vincent Kompany’s career — but the Bayern coach won’t go so far as naming it that way.
“I don’t like making a ranking for these
things,” Kompany relayed at this week’s pre-match press conference (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “They’ve been the strongest team in Europe over the last couple of years, they’ve won the Champions League.
“As well as the quality and the coaching, the age of the team is also on their side. They keep improving, they’re constantly learning. They’re a team who we respect and who are very difficult to play against. We believe the same of ourselves, though, and that we can beat them tomorrow.”
Bayern vs. PSG kicks off at 3:00 PM EDT for the right to advance to this year’s UCL Final.
