According to a report from A Bola (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Aston Villa’s pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder João Palhinha might be moving quickly — very quickly. Palhinha is reportedly on his way to England for a physical with a potential deal being very close:
João Palhinha is on the verge of joining Aston Villa. He’s expected in England tomorrow to finalize the agreement. Despite Benfica’s interest, Palhinha is now set to stay in the Premier League. Villa opened negotiations with Bayern a few
days ago after Amadou Onana’s ACL injury at the World Cup.
With regular playing time difficult to come by at Bayern Munich, a transfer (or another loan) could offer Palhinha the opportunity to play a more prominent role while returning to the Premier League. For Aston Villa, Palhinha experience, defensive presence, and ball-winning ability could strengthen the midfield.
The big question is really whether or not this would be a loan or a a full transfer.
