The LSU Tigers are preparing for one of their biggest games of the season as they welcome No. 9 Alabama to Tiger Stadium. At 6-2 and ranked No. 15 nationally, LSU has an opportunity to pick up a statement victory against one of its biggest SEC rivals.
Coming off consecutive convincing wins over Mississippi State and Auburn, the Tigers will look to carry that momentum into Saturday’s matchup.
If LSU Wins
A victory over Alabama would completely change the conversation surrounding LSU’s season. The Tigers
have already experienced their share of frustrating moments, but beating a top-10 opponent would provide the program with its biggest win of the year.
It would also give Lane Kiffin another opportunity to prove that LSU is heading in the right direction during his first season in Baton Rouge.
Sam Leavitt has started to find his rhythm offensively, and another strong performance against Alabama would further establish him as the quarterback capable of leading this team. More importantly, a win would put LSU in a much better position heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
If LSU Loses
Another loss against a ranked opponent would raise questions about LSU’s ability to compete with the SEC’s best teams.
The Tigers have shown improvement over the past two games, but dropping another important conference matchup would make it difficult to overlook some of the inconsistencies that have followed them throughout the season.
At 6-3, LSU would have very little room for error moving forward, and the pressure surrounding Kiffin’s first season would only increase.
This is an opportunity LSU can’t afford to waste. Facing Alabama at home gives the Tigers a chance to deliver their biggest statement yet.
