BURNLEY VS. LIVERPOOL
| Sunday, September 14th |
Premier League | Turf Moor
2PM BST/9AM EST
We’re back from the September international break, consistently one of the worst weeks of my year. Liverpool play three games and start to build momentum at the start of the season, and then boom! two weeks off. But we’re back, and after scooping up all nine points, the Reds travel to Turf Moor to take try and make it four-for-four against Burnley.
The big news of the day is that Alexander Isak should be available to Arne Slot after
his deadline day move to the Reds. Following all of that build up, fans are excited to see how he will mesh with the rest of the attack. The last time a Scott Parker-led team faced a Liverpool team was 2022 when the Reds decimated Bournemouth 9-0.
Scott Parker’s men have had a difficult start to the season, as they faced Manchester United, Tottenham, and now Liverpool, along with their only victory in the league, which came against Sunderland. They very nearly grabbed a point from Manchester United, but Bruno Fernandes slotted in a winning penalty at 90’+7’.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup (4-3-3)
Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike
While Isak is available, Jeremie Frimpong is still not quite ready to play. Also missing is Curtis Jones. Thankfully all Liverpool players have returned from their international duties, so everyone else should be good to know. Ibrahima Konaté will return to the team to play alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Burnley will be without Zeki Amdouni, and Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts are a question.
The Managers Have Their Say
Arne Slot: “To implement it as best as possible but the final third is mainly for the form of wingers, mainly. Because you end up on the sides, the bigger threat they are the chances we will generate. An early goal normally helps you in a game like this. If you concede, it gives even more energy to the other team. As always we’re hoping our attackers can make the difference.”
Scott Parker: “We will try and keep it going. All I ask of this group is that we embrace this weekend, give the best version of ourselves – we show fight, quality, bravery and control in certain moments. We need to have unbelievable courage. You can win and lose matches, but if my group give me that I will be more than happy.”
