Kylian Mbappé has officially been crowned Europe’s top scorer for the 2024–25 season. The French superstar received the Golden Boot on Friday in a ceremony held in the presidential box of the Santiago
Bernabéu, presented by the European Sports Media (ESM). The entire Real Madrid squad and staff were in attendance to celebrate the moment — a historic one for both Mbappé and the club.
It is Mbappé’s first Golden Boot, and remarkably, the first for a Real Madrid player since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2015. In his debut season with Los Blancos, Mbappé netted 31 goals in LaLiga EA Sports, earning 62 points in the final standings. His consistency and explosive form in the latter part of the campaign — including a decisive brace on the final matchday against Real Sociedad — allowed him to overtake Viktor Gyökeres and Mohamed Salah to claim the honor.
Florentino Pérez: “You’ll always remember this day”
Club president Florentino Pérez began the ceremony by paying tribute to Madrid’s latest galáctico:
“Dear Kylian, this boot is the fruit of your commitment to football. I am proud to have a player like you, who perfectly represents the values of our club,” Pérez said. “You’ll always remember this day. Your teammates are proud of you, because they also helped you win this award.”
Juan Ignacio Gallardo: “This unique and exclusive boot only fits your foot”
Juan Ignacio Gallardo, vice president of ESM and director of MARCA, praised Mbappé’s excellence and the merit of his achievement:
“It’s an immense honor. There are no votes or debates. You’ve earned it completely — with the indispensable help of your colleagues, with the demanding nature of the press, but above all with your extraordinary talent. This unique and exclusive boot only fits your foot. Today you begin a collection.”
Mbappé: “Playing for Real Madrid is a dream”
A smiling Mbappé accepted the award surrounded by his teammates, expressing gratitude and ambition in equal measure:
“First, I have to thank my teammates. This year we have an incredible group. Team awards are the most important thing,” he said. “Playing for Real Madrid is a dream. I hope to win it again next year.”
