Before they even took the field in Week 5, the Buffalo Bills were the last unbeaten team in the entire NFL. But, with their loss to the New England Patriots, the Bills fell to second place in the conference.
The Indianapolis Colts hold the top spot in the AFC entering Week 6.
AFC East standings after Week 5
The Miami Dolphins inexplicably lost to the Carolina Panthers while the New York Jets got boat-raced by the Dallas Cowboys. The only winless team in the NFL is the Jets.
With their win in Week 5, the New England Patriots are ostensibly a half-game back of the Bills in the AFC. They are one game back in record but own the tiebreaker over the Bills. Their Week 15 showdown just took on extra importance.
1. Buffalo Bills (4-1)
2. New England Patriots (3-2)
3. Miami Dolphins (1-4)
4. New York Jets (0-5)
AFC playoff standings heading into ‘Monday Night Football’ Week 5
The Houston Texans absolutely smacked the Baltimore Ravens in the mouth on Sunday, with a 44-10 Texans victory. The Ravens were ravaged by injuries, so the win/loss isn’t a huge surprise, but Houston piled on.
The Indianapolis Colts absolutely crushed the Las Vegas Raiders, and they are now on top of the conference at 4-1.
The Los Angeles Chargers still sit on top of the AFC West despite their loss. Both LA and the Denver Broncos are 3-2. The Chargers have wins over each of their AFC West foes, so no matter what happens on Monday night that will continue to lead the division.
