Dana White has a lot of thoughts regarding a hypothetical boxing match with his would-be rival Eddie Hearn, and he let them all out during the UFC 327 post-fight press conference.
White and Hearn have been involved in a growing feud that started seriously with White poaching Hearn’s fighter Conor Benn. Hearn responded by signing a managerial deal with UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. The quotes back and forth got so spicy, some people started suggesting the two should punch each other in the face
about it all. White has gone back and forth on the subject: suggesting he would, but also admitting he was too old and it would be a ridiculous thing to do.
“Eddie Hearn’s a p–sy,” White began. “Eddie Hearn ain’t boxing anybody, f–king posting pictures of himself hitting the f–king speed bag. Looks like it’s in slow motion. And let me tell you what, if that did happen, me and Eddie Hearn are bums. We would be the first fight of the night.”
“These guys are talking like we’re gonna headline some f–king card or some s–t like that. Bums. Okay? Whoever was talented on that card should be insulted if he and I were anywhere near any other slot other than the first fight of the night, and it shouldn’t even be on TV.”
Ridiculous it may be, but White also thinks it would be a massive fight … big enough for Saudi boxing power broker Turki Alalshikh to be interested.
“You don’t think Turki would try to do that fight? Of course they did,” he said. “Yeah, people [are] throwing offers around everywhere.”
We already knew about Misfits Boxing offering $10 million for the fight, and now we have Turki Alalshikh offering Saudi money to make it happen. We don’t doubt Turki would really pay big bucks to make it happen, if only to make his two promotional partners even more subservient to his whims than they are now.
At least White is rich enough to be able to say no and savvy enough to realize there’s no way he leaves a fight like that looking good. Even if, in his opinion, he’d totally smash that slow p–sy Eddie Hearn to bits.
