According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Indianapolis Colts have received “plenty of trade calls” on their readily available players, most notably of interest Jonathan Taylor, but are planning on holding off on executing any potential deal until after their upcoming Week 9 home game against the Dallas Cowboys:
There’s been some reported thought and speculation around the industry that the Colts potentially moved too quickly on trading two of their veteran pillars, Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner earlier last week, and did not possibly maximize the full trade return of either longtime organizational standout respectively.
This may be a correction by the Colts, holding out hope of maximizing their available veteran players’ trade value, including Taylor and starting nose tackle Grover Stewart, as well as starting young slot wideout Josh Downs—who requested a trade from the organization last week.
All of whom have appeared to garner trade interest, albeit to different levels of possible received compensation, from prospective suitors. The NFL’s trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10th, at 4 PM EST.
In particular, Taylor projects to garner a significant return in draft capital, but there’s increased speculation around league circles that the Colts are hoping for at least a “Christian McCaffrey” trade haul coming back to Indianapolis, if not, at least a first round pick entirely.
