Week 4 in Liga Femenil BBVA brought us own goals, goalfests and golazos.
Club América continue to cement their status as favorites while proving everyone right that they have assembled the top roster and most talent.
Overview
It is no secret that Club América is the biggest favorite this season, and they demonstrated it once again this week when they thrashed Necaxa 7-0. The result kept Brazilian international Geyse Ferreira at the top of the Golden Boot race after she opened the tab for the Eagles, finishing
the night scoring a poker. Irene Guerrero scored from the penalty spot, Aylín Aviléz and Jana Gutiérrez also added one each.
Oh, by the way, Gutiérrez’s goal was chosen as the Goal of the Week.
Chivas hit the road to face Pachuca in one of the biggest clashes of the week. Tuzas made themselves strong in their stadium and beat Guadalajara 3-1. Charlyn Corral put her name on the scoresheet along with Yirleidis Minota and Chinwendu Ihezuo. For Chivas, the perennial Licha Cervantes scored in the 33rd minute.
Despite their new coach, Tigres had no problem beating Cruz Azul 3-0. Thembi Kgatlana, who was back in training last week following WAFCON, came back with a goal and an assist. Maricarmen Reyes and Diana Ordóñez also scored. Regarding Reyes, this is her second goal of the season, after returning from an ACL injury that sidelined her last year.
León stunned Rayadas de Monterrey in what was the upset of the week. It was a thrilling match, with La Fiera’s Nayely Bolaños opening the scoring off a rebound in the 12th minute. Three minutes later, Marcela Restrepo equalized with a long-range strike into the top corner.
It was late into the second half when Lucía García turned the tables and put Rayadas up 2-1. However, nine minutes later, Bolaños scored her brace to level things up. And then, in the 92nd minute, Joselyn de la Rosa sealed the 3-2 victory with a long-distance winner.
This result will give León a massive confidence boost, while it will make Rayadas think about self-inflicted errors and losing focus.
Pumas shook off some frustrations after trashing Querétaro 5-0 and Atlético de San Luis’s win over Puebla 5-2 was a goalfest.
Toluca had a hard time earning the win against Atlante. Although Diablas scored first through Liliana Fernández only a few minutes into the second half, Elizabeth Estrada spiced things up when she found the equalizer in the 86th minute. However, you cannot ever count players such as Amandine Henry out. More often than not, they end up making the difference, and she did so when she scored a header in stoppage time that ended up being the winning goal.
Last but not least, there was another goalfest in the match between Juárez and Santos Laguna. However, the interesting part was that all five goals were scored by Bravas. It was a 3-2 victory for Juárez, with Farlyn Caidedo opening the tab for Santos with an own goal, then Aisha Solórzano scored the equalizer and five minutes later (43’), Giselle Espinoza put things 2-1.
Another own goal, this time by Amanda Murillo, leveled things for Santos, but it was Rocío Galvez the one who scored the winning goal in stoppage time (90+4’).

Who is Cruz Azul’s new coach? After having former player Lupita Worbis as an interim head coach, the club appointed Raúl “Potro” Gutiérrez through 2027.
He’s no stranger to the women’s game. Actually, he guided the Mexico U-17 national team to a World Cup title in 2011. He also had a one-year stint with the club men’s team.
His debut was far from ideal, but let’s see if the club gives him time to work on the process. Cruz Azul hasn’t been patient, having sacked coach Diego Testas in the 2026 season and then giving the previous coach, Israel del Real, only 11 matches to work.
Other news comes from Spain, specifically from Madrid, because Atlético de Madrid announced on Thursday morning the signing of forward Jenni Hermoso. The Spanish player wasn’t seen in training in preseason, which started the rumors about her departure from Tigres.
Goalscorers, Best XI
Ever since Geyse arrived at The Nest and got healthy, she can’t keep scoring. Even before the injury that sidelined her last season, the striker tallied six goals in 10 games.
And she has been unstoppable in the past four weeks. Geyse added four more goals to her campaign, bringing her total to eight in four games.
