RB Leipzig left-back David Raum is known for his offensive prowess and put it all on display Friday during a 4-0 win over Luxembourg.
Raum had the game’s opening goal on a free-kick and also played a big role on the backline for the German national team.
“I’m happy to score my first goal in my 31st game for Germany. It’s a nice feeling to do it here in my old stadium. It’s hard work, after every training I practice free-kicks. It was important to keep a clean sheet, we were there from the first minute.
The red card also played into our hands. We didn’t concede any chances, Oli [Baumann] didn’t have anything to do — which was our goal,” said Raum (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Raum’s goal was sensational with a nice bend that tucked right inside the near-post. For the RB Leipzig star, this could be the start of a nice run leading into the World Cup.
Germany was in need of a good performance and Luxembourg was the right squad for the moment.
The team spirit appeared to be much higher than the last international where the German were flat and the renewed energy helped power the team to a 4-0 victory. An early red card played a massive role in the outcome, but Germany likely would have rolled easily even without being a man-up for three quarters of the match.
