Q: If Dean and Porter are our two starting outside cbs, who is first and second in line for slot corner duties? If Ramsey does or does not play safety, what is the order? And who is the primary backup for outside cb? Thanks for your hard work to all at BTSC. – jomac
A: Ramsey would be the top nickel CB. In base, I’d expect him to play safety and then rotate down to nickel in sub-packages. Asante Samuel is the top backup. He hasn’t played much nickel in his pro career, but I asked Mike McCarthy during training camp if he viewed Samuel as a position flexible guy, to which he said yes. So we could see Samuel take some nickel reps.
