Manchester United won’t get Kane (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
There were some recent rumors that the lack of a signature on an extension between Bayern Munich and Harry Kane might mean that the Englishman would be looking to head home. However, Sport Bild’s Christian Falk says that Manchester United and other Premier League powerhouses are out of luck:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Harry Kane could return to England this summer. The England international is feeling really happy in Munich. On the private side, as I heard, his wife and children love the town. They’re a bit
anonymous, in the sense that they can go through the town without everyone saying, “Hey! They’re the Kanes!” It’s a bit quieter in Munich. Also, it sounds a bit crazy, but everyone in Munich feels like they’ve got the best team in Europe at the moment – so why should anyone want to leave? Kane wants to win huge titles like the Champions League. At the moment, there’s no thought of leaving the country. He wants to win everything with this club. If they end up winning the Champions League this term, then perhaps we can have another discussion about Kane’s future. Otherwise, Harry Kane has his targets with the team.
Kane’s slowness to sign a new contract is related to a few things:
- Bayern Munich is on an unprecedented run of success this season — and so is Kane. Because of that, his asking price can only go up from where it currently is…it will not go down.
- Similarly, England is one of the favorites for the World Cup. That, too, could boost Kane’s value.
In short, there is no reason for Kane to think about signing anything right now.
Bayern back in on Leão? (ESPN)
Last summer, Bayern Munich was closely linked to AC Milan winger Rafael Leão, but the move ultimately never happened. Now, the Bavarians could be kicking the tires on the Portuguese winger once again:
Bayern Munich and Barcelona have seriously considered making a move for AC Milan winger Rafael Leão, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. The 26-year-old’s relationship with Milan’s supporters has deteriorated in recent months and an €80 million departure could become a possibility, despite the presence of a €175 million release clause in his contract. Manchester United could be among the Premier League options for the Portugal international, while there is also interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Last time Bayern Munich was closely linked to Leão, the club ultimately ended up with Luis Díaz. Yeah, that worked out pretty well for the Bavarians. Anyway, it would seem like it might take too much money to get Leão and, would he really be worth it?
Leão has 10 goals and two assists in 26 games across all competitions for AC Milan this season.
Laimer, Goretzka, Guerreiro, Musiala, Jackson recognized (Who Scored)
Bayern Munich stars Konrad Laimer, Leon Goretzka, Raphaël Guerreiro, Jamal Musiala, and Nicolas Jackson were all named to WhoScored.com’s Bundesliga Team of the Week:
Vinícius Júnior “doesn’t fit” with Bayern (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Last week, there were reports circulating that Bayern Munich was interested in Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior. Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinze Rummenigge already distanced the club from the story, but Sport Bild’s Christian Falk also chimed in to say it will not happen:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Bayern want to try and sign Vinicius Jr. He’s a very special guy and brilliant on the pitch, but he’s not a Bayern Munich player. He brings something with him, his image, which doesn’t fit with Munich. They also wouldn’t want to spend so much money on his salary. So, I think it’s a bit too difficult of a poker game for FC Bayern. He was offered to the Premier League and some clubs there. There were rumours about Arsenal, Man City and other clubs. Now, perhaps, they’re trying to do that with Bayern Munich – but no way! He won’t play for Bayern Munich. Also, in the past, there were many similar examples, but ultimately Bayern doesn’t want a big celebrity image, as it can destroy a team!
Vinícius Júnior is a dynamic and dangerous talent, but he is a bit…high maintenance. That little behavioral trait might be a deterrent, but if the star was actually available, the Bavarians would surely — at a minimum — have an internal discussion on the topic. The Brazilian is too talented to just pass over without talking it over.
In a fantasy land where Vinícius Júnior was available and Bayern Munich could afford him…would you do it?
Prömel to Stuttgart (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
The anticipated transfer of Hoffenheim midfielder Grischa Prömel to VfB Stuttgart is considered to be a “done deal”:
🚨⤵️ Grischa Prömel to VfB Stuttgart is a done deal. The contract has long been signed and the medical has been completed. The announcement has not yet been made due to an agreement between all parties involved. 🇩🇪
Locker room fire at Basel causes millions in damage (Tz)
A bizarre, locker room fire at FC Basel 1893 has caused millions of euros in damage and displaced the team, including former Bayern Munich player Xherdan Shaqiri:
A fire broke out in the locker room area of St. Jakob-Park in Basel on Friday evening, causing considerable property damage. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The smoke was so heavy that the fire department had to carry out extensive smoke removal operations.
The fire destroyed the entire changing room area of FC Basel’s first team, including all player and coaching equipment as well as technical and medical supplies. As a result, FC Basel was unable to play their scheduled away match against FC Thun. The stadium’s catacombs were officially sealed, leaving no usable match or medical equipment available.
The fire damage is estimated at millions. To continue training, FC Basel is relying on the support of the Nachwuchscampus Foundation. There, the team, including former Bayern Munich star Xherdan Shaqiri, can use the sports facilities and access the necessary equipment.
