The Giovanni Carnevali era has begun at Juventus, and fans are wondering what impact the experienced executive will have on our beloved team. According to reports out of Italy, the transfer work carried out by the man he’s replacing will be largely undone (or at least transfer listed) this summer as the team looks to distance themselves from now-former CEO Damien Comolli and the unpopular players associated with his time leading the front office these past 12 months.
It remains to be seen if Juventus’
new CEO will take as heavy a hand in transfer business as his predecessor. Comolli famously conducted the business of his first summer transfer window without a sporting director, only bringing Marco Ottolini into the fold from Genoa in January of this year. Will Carnevali seek to bring in his own team to conduct transfer dealings, be a larger presence in those dealings himself, or allow Ottolini the full duties and responsibilities of the position?
Regardless of how they go about it, there is plenty of work to be done in Juventusland to revitalize the Old Lady, and no shortage of areas of the team to improve. The roster is in desperate need of fresh talents in every area of the pitch, whether those are to be starters or depth players that can challenge for starting minutes and keep the pressure to perform up. The manager seems settled, though Giovanni may have someone else in mind for his ideal team. And the front office were Comolli’s picks and certainly haven’t covered themselves in glory.
So, the Juventus Question of the Day is this: If you were in Carnevali’s shoes, what would you prioritize to start the revolution?
