Lamine Yamal added another record to his growing collection at World Cup 2026 after featuring in Spain’s 3-0 win over Austria on Thursday.
The Barcelona teenager started the win that has sent Spain into the last 16 of the tournament and a tie against either Croatia or Portugal.
Yamal has now been on the winning side in 10 matches at major tournaments, becoming the youngest European player to do so and taking the record off Kylian Mbappe.
It’s not the only landmark that Yamal hit on Thursday at the World Cup. He featured alongside Barcelona team-mate Cubarsi, meaning the two players are the first teenagers to start a World Cup game together since 1958.
The duo will expect to start again on Monday when they return to action at the World Cup. Spain head to Dallas now but must wait to see if they will take on Croatia or Portugal for a place in the quarter-finals.
