There have been no shortage of jokes about the seemingly interminable feud between Aleister Black and Damian Priest. You can also “hear” quite a few groans on the wrestle-web whenever WWE lengthens one of their weekly shows from two to three hours.
Kind of fitting then that as SmackDown back moves to three-hours again starting next Friday (Jan. 2), the show will be headlined by Black and Priest in an Ambulance Match.
After a multi-segment brawl before Christmas on the blue brand, last night (Dec. 26)
the former WWE World Heavyweight champ challenged Aleister to another go. The company announced the stipulation on social media later.
There are currently two other matches announced for next Friday’s show from Buffalo, New York’s Key Arena:
- Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY vs. Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka and Kairi Sane
- Jade Cargill vs. Michin (if Michin wins, she gets a shot at Cargill’s WWE Women’s title)
With SmackDown’s other never-ending feud (Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre) likely being wrapped the following Friday (Jan. 9) on the Berlin stop of WWE’s next European tour, this figures to be the blow-off for Black and Priest. Given that and the stip, it should main event… so if you’re done with this rivalry, you can just pretend it’s still a two-hour show and skip it!
It’ll probably still be fun even if the feud should have ended a month ago, though. We’ll be watching.
