Deebo Samuel is back with the San Francisco 49ers, and he’s older than ever, so you can say he’s not the player he once was, but I’ll say he likely still has enough juice to give the Los Angeles Rams some trouble.
Samuel has made some big plays against L.A. over his career. I’d label him a “Rams Killer”, so to speak. I understand the Rams should have a much-improved defense over last season, and potentially once of the best units they’ve ever had, but we don’t know that yet.
What we do know is that
when Samuel plays the Rams, he’s historically done well. Whether Deebo gets stats or not, I can recall plenty of times he and his 49ers earned the win.
We’ll see how he does in 2026. Meanwhile the Rams may be having a reunion of their own if Aaron Donald comes back. So, we may see Samuel and Donald face-off once again. Oh, what fun.

Myles Garrett has been, believe it or not, better than advertised, has fit in seamlessly and should benefit from having a deep, loaded group of defensive linemen around him. And Trent McDuffie has checked every box, as a guy who can play field, boundary and slot corner, and is a tough, physical tone-setter—I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a captain in his first year as a Ram. The team believes he can become perhaps the NFL’s best defensive back in a role not unlike the one that Jalen Ramsey (who, admittedly, is a bigger, more physically imposing player) played in Los Angeles. “LOS ANGELES – After the day off on Thursday, the Rams got back out on the turf on Friday for the first practice with full pads. Day 5 was the first day of Rams Training Camp presented by CommunityAmerica Credit Union at LMU where Los Angeles put on the pads.
With it being Day 1 of the second four-day practice block, and therefore a scheduled off day for starter Matthew Stafford, the first-team offense was led by Stetson Bennett IV, which also meant an extended look at Ty Simpson leading the second-team offense, with both players having a solid day. Meanwhile, other wide receivers got extra reps with today being a scheduled off day for Davante Adams. The defense remained consistent with standouts from defensive end Poona Ford and cornerback Alex Johnson as defensive end Myles Garrett had a scheduled off day.

“As the season approaches, I have to say that this off-season has been one of the most epic in recent Rams history. With all the moves that took place, the addition of Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, the controversial 1st round draft pick, Ty Simpson, and the trade of Jared Verse for Myles Garrett, then you top that off with the rumors of an Aaron Donald return, it seems that anything less than a Super Bowl victory would be a big busted bubble!! Especially since last season ended in the NFC Championship with a narrow loss to the eventual Super Bowl winner. The Rams have more than adequately addressed their areas of weakness, including Special Teams, with a new ST coach, Ventrone and ST ace, LB Stuard. I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to a Super Bowl in Sofi Stadium with the host team, the Los Angeles Rams, lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy when it’s all said and done!!
