There are some serious concerns about Sorsby’s gambling problem, especially as it was revealed how frequently he placed bets on Indiana games while on that team. But two GMs told me they think he’s grabbed in the supplemental draft if he is deemed eligible. Both are under the impression that the Eagles have
done a lot of work on him, and they believe this very much could be Jalen Hurts’ final season as the starter there. “I think Howie grabs him in the second round,” one GM said. “He’s getting a one for (receiver A.J.) Brown. I don’t think he’s scared to do it, and the stuff you hear about them being willing to move off of Hurts, that’s real.” Good enough for me.

His pure size makes him difficult to run through or around, and he has had enough functional athleticism to make it all work. Here are some highlights, when he played for the Ravens early in his career. Brown is No. 78, at LT. Like Bell, Orlando Brown was a third-round pick. He made the Pro Bowl in four of his first five seasons in the pros — his second and third seasons in Baltimore, and his first two seasons after the Ravens traded him to Kansas City. Brown is probably the most obvious recent example of a player with a similar profile to Bell who has had success in the NFL.

WHAT ABOUT DAMEON PIERCE? Veteran running back Dameon Pierce is an interesting addition. Pierce, who signed with the Eagles in March, only has 54 carries over the past two years but had a heck of a rookie year with the Texans in 2022, rushing for 939 yards and four TDs with 30 catches. Now, that was a long tim ago, and he really hasn’t done much since, although he did average 7.3 yards on 40 carries in 2024. The Texans really haven’t had much of an offensive line the last few years, and Pierce didn’t have a lot to work with. He finished last year with the Chiefs but only had four carries. But one upon a time he was a pretty tough, explosive back and behind a capable o-line he could add some juice to the running game. Along with Bijan Robinson and Salem’s Jon Taylor, he’s one of only three NFL running backs with multiple touchdown runs of at least 75 yards over the last five seasons, so there’s something there. The Eagles didn’t pay anything for Pierce, and with a good summer he could make the final roster as a fourth running back behind Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley. Elijah Mitchell, who just signed last week, is in a similar spot, coming off one big year with the 49ers back in 2021 (963 yards, five TDs) and very little since. One of these veteran running backs will probably stick. My money’s on Pierce.
No, A.J. Brown did not say he “leaked” Eagles stories to the media – PFT
Most importantly, Brown never told Maria Taylor that he leaked stories to the media to motivate teammates. Brown didn’t operate in the shadows. He stood in the spotlight and said what he needed to say. It’s a huge difference. The notion that Brown “leaked” stories creates the impression that he was violating the code of the locker room, that he was going rogue and potentially sabotaging the team. Everyone who claimed based on the actual interview — or who amplified the contention without checking an interview that is available for anyone to watch on YouTube — should revise their tweets and their stories. In the end, a surprising number of outlets ran with the false characterization of Brown’s comments. It’s sloppy. It’s lazy. It’s wrong. And it continues, for as long as the tweets and links claiming Brown “leaked” stories are not revised or deleted.

Eagles POV: Eliot Wolf told Yahoo Sports that he had been calling the Eagles about A.J. Brown for the last two years. Each time, he was laughed off. This time, however, things were different. Why did things change for the Eagles? Beyond Brown expressing a desire for a fresh start, the combination of cap and cash relief plus draft capital made it “win-win for both sides,” according to general manager Howie Roseman. “You can have a really good run with somebody, and just feel like, ‘Hey, the next stage of my career, I feel like it will be better served, kind of starting fresh’,” Roseman said. “The conversations with him overall were positive and just honest conversations, and I think it just kind of got to a point where it made some sense from both sides.” For Roseman, any deal needed to include a first-round pick, an asking price the Patriots ultimately met sending their 2028 first to facilitate the deal.

The job of protecting Dak Prescott’s blindside isn’t something they’ll just hand over willy-nilly, so the table is set for this year’s first position battle. This has created a little uneasiness among the fanbase. Is a first-round investment slowly falling out of the good graces of the Cowboys’ coaching staff?

In just two seasons, then, Daniels is known to have gotten injured at least four times while playing quarterback — ribs, knee, hamstring, elbow — and the word that pops up most commonly in the descriptions of those four plays is “awkward.” In all of them, Jayden was on the move when he got hit legally by a defender (or two) but ended up with his body twisting awkwardly or with his own body weight or that of a defensive player creating stress on joints, muscles or bones. Daniels’ mobility is part of what makes him a great player, but that mobility comes with a risk premium, as we’ve learned from seeing the former No. 2 overall pick injured or re-injured at least five times in 24 regular season games. The front office has done a lot to improve the offensive line and running backs that protect Jayden on passing plays. Head coach Dan Quinn made a major change by hiring David Blough to replace Kliff Kingsbury as the offensive coordinator with a mandate to change the style of offense — presumably to, at least in part, protect the team’s franchise quarterback.

Trading away Jonathan Greenard was a necessary Band-Aid that had to be pulled off because of his salary, but the pass rush takes a major hit as a result of his absence. The organization invested heavily in their line by selecting Caleb Banks with their 1st round pick, who the Vikings must have more faith in that I did during the draft, because I thought it was a bit of a desperation pick considering the board.
