This will be a quickie update — Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison had an agreement as late as yesterday to move back to Everton, his former club from whom Spurs signed him, but that deal has apparently fully collapsed. As of the time of this article’s posting Richarlison will be staying at Tottenham until at least January.
Richarlison was set to move back to the Toffees for £35m, which was a part exchange for Spurs’ move for Iliman Ndiaye, who has now signed with Manchester City. When that deal
collapsed, so did Richarlison’s move.
Everton has now moved on; earlier today they reached an agreement to sign former Spurs target and American World Cup striker Falorin Balogun, but that deal may be falling apart after Balogun reportedly failed his medical. According to Fabrizio Romano (sigh), Everton have pivoted to inquiring about Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee.
Richarlison has been posting cryptic messages hinting at being forced into a move on social media the past couple of days. I won’t dig into that, but it doesn’t seem like he’s happy with how everything turned out. I hope this doesn’t sour him completely on the club, as I think he still has a pretty important role he could play in Roberto De Zerbi’s offense, even if he ends up leaving the club later on.
