The Bayern Munich Frauen clinched the team’s fourth consecutive title and its fifth crown in six years with a 3-2 win over Union Berlin. Afterward, Bayern Munich’s club executives issued statements in a release from the club website:
Herbert Hainer (president): “Congratulations to the most successful women’s title-winners in Bayern’s history. A fourth consecutive Bundesliga is the latest historic achievement. We are proud of this team. Congratulations to our director Bianca Rech, coach José Barcala
and the whole team. Now we’re looking forward to the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on Saturday at the Allianz Arena, for which over 20,000 tickets have already been sold. The fans can look forward to a special match and the first appearance of the newly crowned Bundesliga champions.”
Jan-Christian Dreesen (CEO): “FC Bayern Women set new standards season after season, and now they have secured their fourth consecutive Bundesliga title. We are proud of their overall development. And with the acquisition of the Sportpark [in Unterhaching], we’ve already laid the foundations for the next steps. FC Bayern has always been characterised by its ability to maintain its success, and this holds true in women’s football as well. Congratulations to Bianca Rech, coach José Barcala and the whole team. We’re excited for to the future.”
Max Eberl (board member for sport): “Our men are Bundesliga champions, and now our FC Bayern Women have followed just a few days later. Our fans can be very proud. Retaining the title time and time again is testament to the high standard at which Bianca Rech’s management team has consistently performed over the years. We’re delighted for José Barcala and the whole team and wish them all the best for the challenges ahead. There’s still all to play for in the Champions League and the DFB Cup.”
What a monumental effort from the Frauen, who have not lost in the league as of yet this season.
The club officials had to quickly shift their focus to the men’s team, who had a date with Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal.
