The Daily Merengue is a place where you can feel free to discuss all things football. Do not be alarmed by the overt RMCF bias. It’s in the name! Shoutout to the mods who do a fantastic job Kung_Fu_Zizou, Juninho, NeRObutBlanco, Felipejack, Ezek Ix and yours truly, Valyrian Steel.
We’re still making excuses. The only thing the board doesn’t back is losing.
Various media houses will drive whichever agenda sells the most engagement. When we win its the board is fully behind Xabi, when we lose it’s the board doesn’t back the coach. If we blindly follow journalists even Tier 1
sources then there’s a chance we end up with tunnel vision on a certain view point. With regard to the Vini fiasco, the board left it to Xabi and he dealt with it how he saw fit. Now whether that makes Xabi a yes man or a soft coach is debatable. He also finds it hard to drop Vini with Rodrygo dropping stinkers. It’s a catch 22 situation. If Xabi can find a way to win without Vini, Jude, Fede, Arda or whoever else Madridistas consider disposable then he’ll have the board’s backing 100%. Coaches like Zidane and Carlo were backed to no end because they won immediately and followed that up by winning even more. That’s all that matters at this club. At he end of the day Xabi just has to find a way to get these players to buy into his philosophy and win. If he can’t he would have failed at Real Madrid. Coaching this club is not everyone’s cup of tea. Lets hope Xabi doesn’t fall into that bucket.
