You are out of luck if you were looking for a competitive match in this one.
In a running tradition, Bayern Munich took on Rottach-Egern for a preseason friendly which saw a demolition of the lower league side. While Bayern has certainly run up much larger scorelines against this side in past summers, this game served as a fun introduction to some interesting young talent for fans.
Felipe Chávez could contribute to the first team this season
All the discussion this pre-season has been surrounding Arijon Ibrahimović, who has returned from FC Heidenheim over the summer.
Arijon Ibrahimović has been slated to back up Luis Díaz on the left wing, but Peruvian talent Felipe Chávez showed he can play a part this year as well.
Tom Bischof could steal a starting role in midfield this season
As great as Bischof did at filling in last season at left-back, Bischof is at heart, a midfielder. It was fun to see him play with a bit more space and creativity than he is usually permitted. While he wasn’t exactly playing against PSG in this match, it does give a look behind the curtains as to what might come later this season, if Bischof is given the full opportunity he deserves.
Lightning always strikes twice
While it is just a friendly game, it is interesting to take a look at how Bayern Munich got their attack going in this match. In the first half, with many smaller names in the squad, the Bavarians seemed to capitalize greatly in two short bursts of attack, accumulating five goals in these two short bursts. In the second half, that phenomenon perhaps only increased, with Bayern scoring in rapid succession, then pausing before another outburst. Perhaps a lapse of concentration in the opposing defense or is there something deeper going on?
Maycon Cardozo could be an interesting prospect
One of several standout performances from this match, was relatively unknown talent Maycon Cardozo. The 17-year-old Brazilian was certainly enjoying himself out there, getting involved in the action and several different points in the match. His two goals won’t go forgotten if we hear from him again in the future.
