The matchups are officially set: France vs. Morocco, Spain vs. Belgium, Norway vs. England, and Argentina vs. Switzerland. It is a fascinating mix of heavyweights, emerging contenders, and teams looking to make even more history after impressive knockout-stage performances.
Here are my picks:
France 3-1 Morocco: Morocco has already proven it can frustrate elite opponents, but France has looked balanced throughout the tournament. I think the French quality in attack eventually breaks through in a tight
contest.
Spain 1-0 Belgium: This could easily be the best tactical battle of the round. Belgium has been excellent going forward, but Spain’s control of possession and ability to dictate the tempo gives them a slight edge.
England 3-2 Norway: This has the potential to be the most entertaining game of the quarterfinals. Norway has shocked plenty of people by eliminating Brazil, while England continues to find ways to win. Expect goals, drama, and perhaps even extra time before England survives.
Argentina 2-1 Switzerland: Switzerland deserves enormous credit for reaching this stage, especially after knocking out Colombia. Still, Argentina has championship experience, world-class talent, and Lionel Messi continues to elevate his game when the stakes are highest. It would not be surprising to see him produce another iconic World Cup performance.
If these predictions hold, the semifinals would feature France vs. Spain and England vs. Argentina. Those would be four of the biggest names in international football battling for a place in the World Cup final, and every matchup would feel worthy of a championship game on its own.
Of course, the beauty of the World Cup is that predictions rarely survive untouched. Every tournament has its Cinderella story, every favorite has moments of vulnerability, and one unexpected bounce can change everything.
Now it is your turn. Who advances to the semifinals? Do you think Morocco can continue its magical run? Can Norway pull off another upset? Will Belgium spoil Spain’s title hopes? And does Argentina still look like the team to beat?
