Harry Kane’s Ballon d’Or case is getting harder and harder to ignore.
Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who earned 41 caps for the Three Lions and played more than 500 professional matches during a career that included Tottenham, Leeds United, and Blackburn Rovers, believes the Bayern Munich striker should be taking home the biggest individual prize in football.
Speaking to BBC Sport (as captured by@iMiaSanMia), Robinson did not hold back.
“If Harry Kane doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or, it’s a travesty
this year, surely. The competition is stiff, but there is nobody that has got figures like him,” Robinson said.
And the numbers certainly make the argument compelling.
Kane scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for club and country last season, won the European Golden Shoe, and claimed his third consecutive Bundesliga top-scorer award after scoring 36 league goals for Bayern Munich. He has also continued that ridiculous form into this season, including a brace against Czechia that took him to 13 goals for England in 2026.
There are legitimate contenders in Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Michael Olise, and others, but Kane has produced numbers that are almost impossible to overlook.
At this point, the Ballon d’Or debate is not about whether Kane belongs in the conversation.
It is about whether anyone has actually done enough to take it away from him.
