Indiana men’s basketball’s season opening 91-57 win over Eastern Illinois on Monday night at Assembly Hall didn’t come without some bad news.
Prince-Alexander Moody, a freshman guard for the Hoosiers, arrived for the game on crutches and was unavailable. Asked about Moody after the game, Darian DeVries said that he sustained a knee injury in practice and is expected to miss an extended period of time.
It’s obviously less than great news for Indiana, which could use some extra ballhandling just in case.
These early games would’ve been a great environment for Moody to log some early minutes and gain an additional feel for the college game as well, on top of that gained from the Hoosiers’ exhibition slate.
Right now, Indiana’s going to have to rely more on Markus Burton and Bryce Lindsay to be on the ball for the majority of these early matchups. Justin Monden, a transfer from Maryland Eastern Shore, could see some late minutes with the ball in buy games.
It’s a deeply unfortunate start for Moody, who spent significant time engaging with Hoosier fans online since committing last year.
