Bryan Battle continues to impress after parting ways with UFC earlier this year, but “The Butcher’s” knockout finish Thursday night at DBX 4 in Nashville, Tenn., left fight fans in an absolute frenzy.
It’s no secret that Battle was a heavy betting favorite to take care of business this week at DBX 4. After all, the former UFC welterweight fighter delivered a 56-second TKO finish in his Dirty Boxing Championship debut this past August. Most thought he’d have an easy time Saturday against an unproven opponent, Nick Kohring, which is a current training partner of Nate Diaz.
While Battle was clipped in the first 10 seconds of Thursday’s co-main event fight, the former Ultimate Fighter winner completely took over once he started to let his hands go. Battle ended up landing a stiff left hand that planted Kohring on the canvas. Under normal boxing rules Battle would not have been allowed to land a follow-up shot, but in Dirty Boxing he is. “Butcher” waited for Kohring to look up from the ground before unleashing a final right hand that put him out for good.
Check out the video highlights below, which includes an epic post-fight speech from Battle:
The finish was pretty brutal, which immediately promoted fight fans to take to social media and chime in. While some blamed referee Dan Miragliotta for not stepping in sooner to save Kohring from the final punch, others took shots at Battle.
