Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 7, Durham Bulls (TBR) 3
Leadoff batter Enrique Bradfield, Jr. kick-started the offense in the first inning with a walk and two stolen bases. José Barrero singled him in for the first run, then he scored on a two-out single by Jhonkensy Noel. The next four runs were driven in on two home runs from Jud Fabian, and Noel doubled in the final run in the seventh inning.
Starting pitcher Brandon Young had an outstanding night. The only run he allowed came in the fifth inning when he briefly lost his control. He walked two batters,
moved them up on a balk, and allowed one to score on a sac fly. Aside from that three-batter stretch, Young was perfect for 5.2 innings. He did not allow a hit and he struck out 10. In four starts this year (three minor league, one major league), Young has allowed just two earned runs in 21.2 innings.
Rehabbing pitcher Keegan Akin and Dietrich Enns also pitched. Akin allowed two hits in 1.1 innings, one of which was a home run. Enns needed just nine pitches for a perfect inning with two strikeouts.
Double-A: Chesapeake Baysox 8, New Hampshire Fisher Cats (TOR) 6
Starting pitcher Sebastian Gongora had a lot of traffic on the bases. In just four innings, Gongora gave up eight hits and two walks. He allowed three runs, one each in the first, second, and fourth innings. The first run was unearned thanks to an error by shortstop Carter Young.
The Baysox scored their first run in the top of the first on a home run from Brandon Butterworth. It was the first of three hits for him in the game. Frederick Bencosme added four more runs on a grand slam. Anderson De Los Santos also homered in the game, part of a two-hit day. Thanks to all the dingers, the offense scored eight runs despite going just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
High-A: Frederick Keys 4, Hudson Valley Renegades (NYY) 1
Juaron Watts-Brown gave up just one run in five innings. He allowed three hits and walked three batters. He struck out six. The lone run scored in the third inning on back-to-back doubles. Boston Bateman and pitched three shutout innings with two hits, one walk, and five strikeouts.
The Keys scored all four of their runs in the second inning. Braylin Tavera singled and came around to score on a hit by Leandro Arias. After a second run scored on a wild pitch, Ryan Stafford hit a two-run homer.
Nate George singled twice and Vance Honeycutt went 0-f0r-4. Ike Irish and Wehiwa Aloy had the day off, though Irish went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter. Jackson Holliday made a rehab appearance and went 0-for-3.
Low-A: Fredericksburg Nationals 7, Delmarva Shorebirds 1
Starter Christian Rodriguez pitched just 3.1 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks. He was pulled after 79 pitches thrown. His relief, Fermin Magallanes, coughed up two more runs on a home run.
The offense had seven hits, including two apiece from Stiven Martinez and Andrés Nolaya. Cobb Hightower was hitless from the top of the lineup. The Shorebirds scored their lone run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.
