Battle lines are being drawn between AAA and WWE. It’s no secret that Roman Reigns often relies on the Bloodline to watch his back. Penta may have family of his own to keep it fair, and I’m not talking about Fenix.
This storyline hinges on Penta winning the #1 contender tournament to challenge Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Raw in Mexico City on September 14. Penta already advanced to the semifinals
.Penta was in the house for the live episode of Lucha Libre AAA (Aug. 15, 2026)
from Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. First, he congratulated brother Fenix on successfully retaining the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Noisy Boy. And yes, that is Wile E. Coyote in the front row.
Penta had other business on his mind. He cut a promo to hype the crowd with confidence that he will win the tournament. The thing about Reigns is that he has family to fight his battles. Penta never needed a faction to accomplish his goals. The idea of family ushered in Los Perros del Mal. After teasing tension, Penta gave a big hug to Daga, Angel, and Berto. He kind of gave the cold shoulder to Karmen Petrovic and Bronco Nima. More on that aspect later.
Daga explained how Penta joined him in Los Perros years ago to conquer the world. Life brought them back together on this night. Daga warned Penta that he will need family to fight Reigns. If Penta tries to go solo, then he won’t walk out of that match. Once a Perro, always a Perro. Daga offered Los Perros shirt to Penta as an invitation to come home to his family. Penta mulled it over silently to milk the drama from the fans. Penta decided to think it. Daga bluntly told Penta that he had until the end of the night.
When the end of the night rolled around, Los Perros approached Penta in the locker room. It sounded like Penta was more than willing to trust Daga, Angel, and Berto. It was a different story with Karmen and Bronco. Penta wondered if they actually earned the right to be in the family. Penta questioned if they were dead weight. That touched a nerve for Bronco. He mouthed off to challenge Penta one-on-one next week in AAA to prove himself. If Penta wins, he can proceed as he pleases. If Bronco wins, Penta will join Los Perros and also recognize that Bronco is part of the family. Penta was game. Cero meido.
This is an interesting piece of business brewing. Los Perros are right that Penta will need help to counter the Bloodline. However, Penta is a huge babyface, and Los Perros are villains despite popularity from portions of the crowd. I appreciate how they set this up with last week’s segment of Los Perros welcoming Damian 666, who is an OG Perro. That planted the seeds to treat this invitation to Penta as legitimate. Perros versus Bloodline would be exciting. On top of that, we should have a good fight between Penta and Bronco. And there is the question of what happens if Penta officially turns down Los Perros.
As for Penta’s next move in the tournament, he will meet La Parka in the semifinals. La Parka defeated Psycho Clown on Saturday night thanks to a ref bump and interference from the swamp monster. La Parka had nothing to do with either incident. The win was a right place, right time sort of thing. Commentary put over how La Parka was unaware of the outside attack.
