Kentucky head coach Mark Pope has been active on the recruiting trail, extending offers to several members of the 2027 class as the Wildcats look to establish an early presence with top prospects.
One of the newest names is Beckham Black, a four-star shooting guard from Duncanville, Texas, who plays at Southeastern Prep in Florida. The 6-foot-2, 160-pound guard had been in steady contact with Kentucky’s staff since June 15, but officially earned his scholarship offer when Pope visited his school on Monday,
according to Jacob Polacheck of KSR.
“Coach Pope came to my school and sat down with me and a couple of my teammates. It was a really cool experience,” Black told Polacheck of KSR. “He really just said he’s been watching us, likes what we’re doing, thinks we have a pretty good team at the school, and he believes in us.”
Black isn’t the only Southeastern Prep standout on Kentucky’s radar. Kentucky has also offered Obinna Ekezie Jr., Marcus Spears Jr., and C.J. Rosser, two prospects who rank among the nation’s best.
Kentucky also recently entered the mix for Nasir Anderson, a five-star point guard at Prolific Prep (Norcross, Ga.). Anderson is 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds and is ranked as the No. 1 point guard and No. 7 overall prospect in the 2027 class.
With Anderson joining Black, Rosser, Spears Jr., and Ekezie Jr., Kentucky has already extended offers to five of the top 10 recruits in the 2027 class, signaling Pope’s intent to establish early relationships and positioning the Wildcats to secure a commitment by the fall of 2026 or spring of 2027.
