The 2026 season has come to its conclusion, and with it, the chaos that is the NCAA transfer portal has officially opened. While teams navigate the Mountain West-Pac-12 split, I will be keeping track of who teams lose and gain through the portal window. Outlook: Colorado State lost one of their young prospects to the portal on Friday, as Liliana Russo entered the portal after not recording a stat for the Rams in her freshman season. It’s hard to say what kind of loss Russo truly is as a result, but I’d say that the more important factor is that all but three Rams are signing up for more under their new head coach. That is a promising sign for the future of CSU softball.

Outlook: Do-it-everything DP extraordinaire Alina Satcher entered the transfer portal on Friday, ending her three-year stint with the Lopes. Across her 83 at-bats in Purple, Satcher slashed .289/.392/.711, mashing 10 home runs and collecting 44 RBIs. Her last great contribution as a GCU Lope was being called on as a pinch hitter during the Lopes’ winners-bracket MW Tournament game against Nevada, crushing a lead-snatching grand slam in her first at-bat in over a week. Satcher was never the biggest contributer in terms of volume, but her impact on her team cannot be understated. She will be sorely missed by the reigning conference champs.
On the bright side, the Lopes got even better (somehow) on Saturday, as they signed North Florida star transfer Cameron Ponich, who finished the 2026 season with a 1.73 ERA across 117.2 innings of work. It’s almost laughable that anyone is supposed to compete with this team in 2027. They are what Gonzaga basketball has been to the West Coast Conference for decades: a power-conference team disguised by mid-major status.
