All together, this has been an entertaining, fun, and surprising World Cup on the field at least. That sprit will continue with a slate of three games stretching from coast to coast as we begin a new month. England will take on DR Congo as they hope to advance to the Round of 16. The Three Lions are undefeated in the tournament with wins against Croatia and Panama and a draw to Ghana. They will take on DR Congo who is in the knockouts largely thanks to a surprising draw earned in the first match
against Portugal. They went on to lose to Colombia and beat Uzbekistan. Expect the African side to try and frustrate England by staying compact defensively, use physicality, and counter to try an pull off an upset.
Elsewhere, Belgium takes on Senegal in a matchup that will determine who will take on the winner of USA vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina. Belgium won their group but not without some difficulty. Draws to Egypt and Iran put them in a position where they needed a win against New Zealand to go through. That result won them the group but Senegal will be another test. The Lions of Teranga lost to France and Norway before putting five goals past Iraq and moving on as a third place team. Arguably, Senegal has underperformed and will need a better performance out of the defense if they want to advance in the tournament.
