Argentina star Leandro Paredes has complained about the 10-match ban he received for his part in the brawl after the World Cup final this summer.
Paredes was slapped with a hefty punishment for fighting and was one of four Argentina players sanctioned by FIFA.
Barcelona star Gavi was also handed a one-match ban for his involvement, and Paredes feels that he’s been hard done by.
“It seems exaggerated, because the strange thing is that Gavi was given a one-match ban and he’s the one who punched me in the chest,”
he told reporters
“But oh well, it’s done. Now we just have to appeal and see if they can reduce the sanction, that’s all.”
Paredes was spotted grabbing Eric Garcia by the throat and then wrestling with Gavi, before appearing to strike the Barcelona man in the face.
Gavi spoke out afterwards, saying that he realised the spat did not project a good image but that he did not think Paredes and his team-mates should be suspended.
