Even if Milan are top of Serie A, Max Allegri’s side have obvious striker worries. Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic are scoring as they should but one would always associate an Allegri side with a strong target man that scores at will, links up play and oozes personality.
A host of names have been linked with the Rossoneri – with the latest being Manchester United. But Parma’s Mateo Pellegrino could fix the problems.
Pellegrino oozes personality
The Argentine is tall and strong. He is someone who has
an air of dominance about himself that a lot of top strikers have.
Allegri’s strikers have always had a personality which pushes the team forward and Pellegrino is doing exactly that at a Parma side which isn’t the best going forward. He is becoming a chief source of goals in a dire scenario.
Pellegrino’s numbers stand out
Despite Parma’s inability to churn out chances regularly, Pellegrino has seven goals in all competitions this season. In total, he has featured in 29 games since his arrival last January and has found the net ten times.
Those are impressive numbers for a player who barely receives service and has to often do the dirty work. Parma lost key attackers in the summer and this didn’t help the 24-year-old.
Pellegrino has a nose for goal
So many of Pellegrino’s goals at Parma show that he is a proper goalscorer who will sacrifice his body to get a goal. He would put his body on the line to find the net and there is air of ruthlessness about the way he carries himself around the goal.
His aerial presence stands out and he wins a lot of them during set-pieces. More than that, Pellegrino has an underrated ability to link up play and has a hammer of a left foot. He is no stranger to often pinging the right long balls to wide areas, using his foot to his advantage.
It will not be a surprise if attention around the striker continues to rise. Milan are keeping an eye on him and one can’t rule out a move.
